    Hi Rolf,

Firstly, I would like to thank you for all the information you share, it really helped me when starting out.

I’m setting up my mining operation now and saw from one of your videos that in your facility you don’t seem to have any filters attached to the 4 big intake fans, while on the photos in this article you are cleaning some washable filters. Where do have them placed?

I’m asking because, from my calculations I would need a large filter area to cover the needed airflow and judging from you 4 huge fans you would need an even greater surface area of filters to allow for enough airflow for the fans. Btw, I’m looking at installing 18 washable G4 rated filters (24inch x 24inch x 1inch with a rated airflow of 1880 CFM) and 4 fans with each having 4700 CFM. Any tips on this?

In short, how are you handling the air filtration and does G4 sound good enough?

Thank you for taking the time and answering my questions.

Peter, the filters are built into the fan housing. I actually don’t like it that way.

Designing another, larger space right now. Going to put the vents and filters on the wall, then create a small tunnel to the intake fans mounted on the floor.

Sounds like from your calculations your are designing it correctly…although you may want to push the airflow through the vents and filters higher than rated and see what happens – it may turn out ok.
