Replacement Fan for the Antminer S9

As I am running the Antminer S9’s longer, I am concerned about finding a source for repair parts. When I was cleaning one of the Antminer S7’s a fan blade snapped off, and something like that might happen with the Antminer S9’s.

Already one hashing board on one of the boxes looks like it is not working, so I need to make sure to identify the following:

• Replacement fans
• Fan wire connectors
• Hashing board connectors.

Figuring I can cut and solder the fan connector, I really need to find a fan. There are lots of knowledgeable people on Bitcointalk, and I found a conversation thread that helped figure out the part number of the Antminer 6000 RPM fan. The S9 uses two of those.

The fan is a Delta QFR1212GHE-SP01, and it can be purchased from Digikey.

It is Digikey part number 603-1165-ND

On the website, it says it is obsolete, although they have stock of over 1100. So I called and tried to find a replacement part. I wanted it to be the same size, but faster if possible.

The tech was very helpful and recommended the Delta PFR1212UHE-SP00. It is 6600 RPM instead of 6000, does higher CFM at 220 vs. 210, but pulls more power – 32W instead of 22W. There are only 12 in stock, but it is not an obsolete item, so it would be possible to get more.

It is Digikey part number 603-1711-ND

I ordered one of each. I’ll try the higher CFM fan in one of the devices and see how it goes.

I could not get either fan to work on an Antminer S9 or S7. Not sure if it’s wired differently or what. I ended up ordering a replacement fan from Bitmain in China. That worked. The link for that part number is here:
