Do you have any network suggestions or best practices for someone who has a handful of GPU miners operating in their home?

Should I be using a hardware firewall?
Should I Vlan a distribution switch to keep the miners segregated from my main home network?
Should I plan on a total separate internet connection?
Is the use of a VPN necessary or recommended? Why or Why not?
What are the risks I should be trying to minimize?

I don’t think you need to do anything special on your home network to protect your mining rigs. You should be fine.

For a 1000+ machine setup do you recommend the Merkai 64, 84, 100 or 250. I know your video said the 64 was sufficient but cisco website says the 64 is recommended for up to 50 clients.

After further reading Cisco defines clients as VPN clients. Sorry for the premature question. Looks like the 64 is perfect.

No problem! Yes, the 64 has all the features you need, including throughput, uplink failover, and even hardware failover if you need it. If you can find a cellphone modem that plugs into it directly, that gives you a third path to the internet.

I am trying to setup my Meraki mx64w (thanks for the advice regarding that). My main question is whether my modem should be set in bridged mode or if I should port forward to the 64w as you described in the video. The modem is solely used to provide internet access to the Meraki.
My secondary question is in tandem and also relating to the backup internet – seems like that one would have to utilize port forwarding due to it being my main home internet. So, what port or range of ports do I forward? Do I only need one random port number open for full access?
